Lymphedema is a condition which can make mobility challenging & lead to health complications if untreated. While there is no cure for primary or secondary lymphedema, there is treatment.
How to Begin Treatment
To begin treatment, ask your doctor to fax a referral to us (using the downloadable referral form listed under the “Physicians” tab).
While we wait on your doctor’s referral, you can fill out your personal information. This will enable us to verify your insurance coverage prior to your visit. You can call us with the information on this Intake form, or you can submit online using http://ltstherapy.com/insurance-intake/. Once your doctor’s referral is received, the process usually takes 1-3 days.
What to Expect
Each session will take about an hour (sometimes longer) & the frequency of visits will vary depending on your particular presentation. Sometimes patients are seen 3x/week & other times daily is needed. Additionally, the duration of treatment will vary (from a few visits to a few weeks). When treatment is nearly complete, you will need to be fitted with a compression garment to maintain volume loss.
Your first visit will be an evaluation & filling out necessary paperwork. In this session, we will establish a plan of care based on your evaluation findings & goals. Once your doctor approves our plan of care, we can begin treatment. All sessions are held in our office located at 2410 Luna Road, Suite 248 in Carrollton. If you require mobility assistance or find mobility difficult, please let us know prior to coming for your scheduled visit.
- Homebound/Home Health
Your first lymphedema visit will be completed right after a nurse with the home health agency admits you. The agency will contact us to let us know you have been admitted & we will schedule our initial evaluation.
Online educational classes will be provided to answer questions related to lymphedema among other topics. These classes will be presented by a certified lymphedema therapist & will help you understand what lymphedema is, what treatment entails, options for compression garments as well as donning/doffing aids among other subjects. If you are interested in coming to one of these casual, informative & interactive seminars, stay tuned!
